Yes

The cap thing... If I remember right, the clearance spec is very small. That would translate to tight, but still easily spinnable by hand. If it feels locked, then that's a No. A human hair is actually pretty thick, in motor clearance terms. I would say that a detectable but unmeasureable amount of play is probably fine. The clearances are going to change anyways once the motor warms up.

k, im assuming your telling me the almost undetectable, but "hair" their play should be fine. as in I can move the cam up and down, but its so minut I almost cant feel the cam shaft moving up or down, like you said, allmost undetectable. also, when the tolerances change, dose that mean a tight cap could turn into a situation where it locks the cam? or will the camshaft and cam journal cap expand in the same manner. also, some caps actuely allow no play and aloow the cam to rotate more freely then other caps that also alow no play, but are tighter and put more drag on the cam. will this be fine? sorry for all the questions on the head. Im getting my motor back from the machine shop soon, and I fell like this is my sketch point of re-assembly that I must go over. when I first started mixing cam journal caps and I looked at the '98 head, you should have seen how many times i counted the cam journals on the camshaft and then walked back to the head and counted them and then counted my rows of cam caps. I did it like 40 times, just scratching my head as to why I had so many cam caps.
