I saw someone use the lighter fluid trick on TV about 12 years ago. Arctic explorers blew a bead on their Landcruiser. Foomp, back in buisiness. Why they were running 35's at 10psi without bead locks, who knows.

Again, it doesnt matter if you are stretching, or putting a fat tire on a narrow rim, any time a tire is mounted the bead has to be seated.

Or if you manage to roll it off the bead somehow, and need to seat it again, the lighter fluid, hairspray, etc trick is for seating the bead, it has nothing to do specifically with stretching.
