Question Cold Start Oil Pressure

My oil light comes on just during start up(when cold) but only stays on about 1-2 seconds after the motor catchs and runs.

Never once has it come on during driving or any other time, but its still making me uncomfortable...

Im running a greddy oil filter relocation on the motor, as well as a greddy oil pan, and im not leaking any oil from anywhere...

If you have an idea or need more info on motor just post what you need, and ill supply to the best of my ability

thanks in advance, Eric

You could have an electrical issue causing it to do that then, hook up the gauge.

Unscrew the relocation kit and just run a filter on it. Drive around a few days and see what it does. I never liked the idea of miles of hose carrying oil between the pump and engine.

The purpose of running a gauge is to tell you whether the pump is getting old. That would cause low startup pressure.

I wouldn't worry about it. The motor isn't under a lot of stress during startup. Plus, plenty of modern healthy motors will flail around in their bearings before the pump catches up.

Does it have a bypass, or maybe a check valve that isnt working ?

not miles about 12 inchs'

and pump is brand new... and while i know its not under a lot of stress, i don't like it because it still shouldn't do it. I was thinking on my limited knowledge, from the filter being held up right, and while the car sits the oil drains out, and right during start up while the pressure builds there is that gap... but i pm'ed two gentlemen on zilvia and neither that were running the relocation had this issue.

*shrugs
