Get a 3" long 1" OD pipe from home depot and cut a window in it. You might have to grind down the out side of the pipe a little. Use in conjunction with a normal valve spring tool.

what is a od pipe> and what do you mean by window. Like a square on the end of the pipe? and when you say in conjunction with anormal valve spring tool, do you mean one I can get at advanced auto? if so, are their diffrent kidns of valve spring tools....if so what kind should I ask for. I can do this if I understand a little better exactly where and way to cut the pipe, sorry Im a little confused when you say window and exactly to where you cut this window shape

OD = Outer Diameter. And exactly what that means, you cut an opening in it so you can get the valve retainers out/in with ease.

so cut a window in the side of the pipe so I can hande the stuff while its "in" the pipe? also did you have an answer to the valve spring tool question, if I can get it at advanced auto and if any spring tool will work or if I need a spacific one for my DOHC?

thanks for trying to help me. I love my ka, but I don't know if you followed my other thread of me wanting another engine becauswe of problems happening all the time. i have the worst luck with this engine and I hate it because no one has as many problems as me and I want to fix this shit and have it run good, but everything keeps failing...now I need a new throttle body, SOAB!

I just use a standard C style valve spring tool. Its 30 something years old. You should be able to get one from advance or sears or similar places.

Yes the window is for when the valve is compressed you can remove the retainers alot easier. Magnetic blade screw drivers help out alot with this process as well.

Cut a window 1.5" long and about 1/3-1/2 of the width of the pipe. Dont cut to much or the tool will bend then you will have to make a new one.

I dont know why you are having so many problems. I've never really had any troubles with any of my KA motors. But all of my cars were completely stock and well maintained by the previous owners. I dont by other peoples fuck ups.

ok, cool I think I understand better. After I build It ill post picks so you can tell me if Its right. Yea I bought some one elses fuck up. The car ingeneral was terribly abused as I learn more about building cars, and the engien was from a 95, but some one beat the shit outta it obviously. theres no way to tell when its on a pallet out of a car, ya know? compression is great but the head and exterior engine components were def mistreated and underlooked by previous owner. Its just been driving me fucking nuts over the ast couple years.

any tips for do's and dont when it comes to re-assembling a ka head? any online picture guide links to builidng a dohc head would be cool too. I always like pictures so iget abetter idea of what Im doing.
