I did a compression check and car wont start
i just checked for spark and im not getting any i just bought new plugs and those are the ones i just tried to use. i looked and my wires dont look all that great either one of them has a cut in the shielding and little hair line cracks in it. i think that they are the same condition that the car has been running with so probably not a factor here.

troobleshooting questions-------------------------
What was done to get you to this point?
1) i did a compression check by unplugging plug wires.
2) removed spark plugs ( bought new ones) iridium ix heat rang 5
3) hooked up compression gauge to each cylinder at a time with all plugs out .( compression readings came out satisfactory between 175-180.i let the plug wires hang and dangle around the exhaust area still connected to the dizzy
4) after doing compression i blew out the cylinders using a nozzle and air compressor to clear fuel and or fumes from possible flooding of engine since i had done nothing to prevent this.
5) i replaced old plugs in the correct order (didn't buy the new plugs until i found the problem) and connected the wires to the plugs
6)all systems should have been go so i started to crank the motor over until i knew it wouldn't start which was around 5-7 seconds so it wouldnt flood realy bad
Was the motor swapped, rebuilt, or a head gasket changed?this is the original motor no swap not rebuilt and no blown head gasket since the compression was near perfect
You state you have spark, fuel and compression, but how did you test for each one of these?1)i test for fuel by smelling for it i have a fuel pressure gauge and the spark plugs are wet i also hear the fuel pump turn on, i tested for spark which i don't have. 2) i tested this with putting a spark plug in the spark plug wire and holding it up against the head, block and also the bolt to the strut tower no spark at all, 3) i checked compression by a gauge previously mentioned
Did the car run before, or did you buy it in this condition?i bought the car a while back and it has ran right up to the point until i did the compression and tried to crank it over.
What other items were changed on the car?no items were changed other than buying new spark plugs to check for spark . the old ones were pretty bu boo
Answering these questions should give you a better understanding, and give you some routes to help me and you on troubleshooting thanks.

also does anyone know exactly what happens to the distributor to make it go bad and if there is a way to fix it instead of getting another one?
