Big brake kit for under 150$
stock brakes are fine for daily driving... if you're trying to hit the track though, you'll be seriously let down... I don't care how much drilling and slotting you do to stock brakes, they are still gonna fade something serious on you. Drilling is for looks more than anything. Slotted will help, but not as much as other options. by the time you pay to get stock rotors slotted, you might as well have gotten z32 rotors re drilled for 4 lug. Pick up some reman'ed z32 calipers from the parts store and you're good to go. Then you can work on the little stuff like a bigger master and baces and lines and all that jazz. when you really sit down and look at the cost of just upgrading versus tweaking with the stock stuff you'll quickly see the advantage to just doing the swap...
but that's just my 2 cents...

I've heard alot of shitty things about re-man'd calipers as well. Like them only having replaced one piston while the other three are in horrible shape and seals not properly intalled. I would stay away from them and just get a used set and rebuild them yourself.
Who the hell slots stock rotors? Your just asking for them to crack. Slotted rotors are generally usless on a street car but they atleast look cool and make people think your fast.
Have you ever done any of that? Z32 brakes tend to lock up and alot of people have trouble getting the correct master cylinder to make everything work as well as it should. And getting the e-brake to work is a pain in the ass unless you pull everything off a Z yourself.
I think you need to stop reiterating things you've read on internet forums and do some real research.
Um no they wont. Correct pads, SS lines, fluid and air ducts and you will be just fine. There are plenty of SCCA 240's running stock calipers. As long as you can keep them cool you will be fine. Unless you make over 300hp and are constantly slowing from 130mph+ on the straights, then you might want to look into something bigger.
When i did HPDE's at VIR and Summit Point i had my stock braking system with the porterfield pads, oem brembo vented rotors, and racing brake fluid. i didnt have much power basically stock KA with speed limiter removed. i never had any brake fade going 130mph on the back stretch at VIR going into the braking zone and braking late. worked great. didnt run any kind of cooling ducts or anything. after a two day weekend at the track with 4+ hours of track time i never had any problems except with the car shutting off when going into the braking zone... lol was a error reading on the ecu that caused it to shut down... dont know, never figured that one out. lol
anyways, now that im actually making power lol, ive upgraded to z32 front calipers. im running the stock master cylinder. ive had to readjust my brake foot a little.. so i wont lock em up... but they have worked fine. still, im running the porterfield pads and they are just amazing.
also, redrilling rotors is stupid. makes the rotor weak and can cause cracks. that would suck.

Q45's have done me well so far, and I loved them up in the mountains, but normal driving I've locked up more than I would of liked too.
I'll have to put more thought into it when I get my car back on the road. Is your car a fully weighted S13?

I still have the stock (but rebuilt by me) s14 mc running both z32 fronts and rears, and I don't have any lockup issues unless I REALLY get on the brakes.
I had maxima single piston front calipers (that i rebuilt) on 03 se-r rotors on my old s13 hatch and those things would lock like crazy. but that could have had something to do with a 205/40 tire on a 16x8 wheel. haha.

you can hear just as many bad things about any part ever made if you look long enough. Just like any part you buy, new, used, re built, re man'ed, any part period, you have to inspect it to make sure it is actually in the condition you think it is in. again, I assumed that went without saying...
I agree with you there, who slots stock rotors? People that want to look cool and look fast..... you see it all the time driving down the road. Well, not really driving, unless you have super human vision, but you get the point.
And yes, I have done that swap, many a time. I've even put z32 brakes on rx7s and other cars. You're right, with the same crappy tires you had on there before the swap, you're going to lock up the tires much sooner than you would with the stock parts. With a bigger/better set of tires, you would be able to enjoy your increased stopping power. I was unaware that we were just assuming that we were going to keep the same pizza cutter tires. If that was the case, then you don't need to be upgrading your calipers or rotors at all.
I didn't expect you just know that I have a clue about what I was talking about, considering I'm using a new name and the general rule of thumb is "low post count, must be an idiot" so, no harm, no foul
Z32 rears were very easy once you got the exploded view of the rear brakes from a Z32 manual and got everything you needed. The only issue we had was the pivot pin that the shoes hang on being such a retarded torque and then routing the ebrake cables. We spliced z32 ans s14 cables using marine grade hardware (those little metal loops that you run cable around so its not overstressed, i forgot the name) and coating them in latex. Now that R33 cables are easy to find, it's cake.

glad to see that it wasn't such a mind exploding task for you.
any thoughts on trying out a bigger master?
more curious than anything else, I've always just upgraded the master too. I've never really run a stock master with z32 brakes...
I recall there being a discussion on zilvia a while back about the merits of the 1" vs. the 17/16's mc. I think the z32 auto mc is the one you want. I'm pretty sure its the 1" version and already has the extra port plugged.
EDIT: Nvm. The sale was the 17/16's. Here is the link. if i was gonna go to a different MC, I'd do this one. http://zilvia.net/f/group-buys/23440...installed.html
others feel free to chime in.

It also has to do with the brake booster being different a size between the 13/14 and also the amount of pedal travel.
