300zx Problems(I Need Help)
ok wel to answer the first question about the spitting i think before so it may be the turbo but i'm not smoking at all just when it is sitiing still and i get it to ilde right it spits from the drive side plus to think of it for a lil until it warms up it flexs in rpms just under 2300 so i know for sure it needs to be tuned cause my brother built it to handle 15 psi but right now i'm only boosting 7-8 ish so
yeah i just read what k said and my brother switch from ball bearings to non so i guess thats another factor lol well i'm going to try royal purple cause i heard its great on motors and see where i go.......... and yeah i change the plugs but the guy give me na ngk's not turbo one if that would make a differents
I will say that my car used to spit oil (very small amt.) when I first started it. It wouldnt spit at idle, JUST when I started it up, but my turbos are still in awesome condition. The motor could have problems with the valves or something internally wrong. I dont personally know because I no longer have the problem with a new motor.
ok...after reading this twice I see no mention of color of the mist coming out of the exhaust. Also does it just happen at startup, cold, warm, etc.? My Z spits black carbon out when I start it but it stops almost immediately. It's because my car is running extremely rich at startup. You say he tuned it for 15psi but you're only running 8psi. It may be running extremely rich. I would second checking your plugs, I would verify the timing is set to 15degrees. I accidently clipped my timing light on the loop backwards one time and over retarded my timing causing a similar response.
As for the ticking...all z's tick at startup. but it should go away within a minute or 2. If not check the fuild level and consider changing the oil. Also make sure you are using the correct viscosity for the air temperature.
