Default Weird stuttering problem with SR

Hey Everybody. Quagmire here. And here is my problem. I have an S14 SR20 in an S13. The motor idles absolutely perfect. Doesn't miss or anything. When I am accelerating and building boost it starts to stutter right at 4k until 5 or 5500 and then it clears up. So I am perplexed to say the least. I have changed the spark plugs. It all started after I had to put some crappy wal-mart gas in it. I make sure I put good gas in it now. Also, could it be my tune? My car has an Enthalpy ROM tune for 550cc injectors, Z32 MAF, and an S14 T28, and of course all the other basic bolt-ons. I recently accquired a Pulsar GTi-R turbo and put it on. Will a re-tune help my car run better? Thanks in advance for all the help.

Quagmire Out!

I would think a re-tune at this point would be the answer but make sure to run out that crap gas first there's no point in dyno tuning a car that has crap gas in it. try running a few tanks of good gas through it and re tune from there.

Ohhh yeah, the crap gas has been long gone. I have exhausted every other option before I posted up here. I kinda wanna hear what Martin and/or Epstein thinks of my situation. I wanna get it running better by the meet on the 7th, but who knows.

to true it could be anyhting from tune to a higher PSI boost leak and anywhere in between.

bad gas could have fucked up the fuel pump and filter sock.
id throw another pump, filter and sock in before anything.

what plugs are you running? How many pounds of boost? The rpm range you quoted is where peak torque (and peak cylinder pressures) are in the rpm band for your setup. If you've got a wide plug gap it'll idle great, but you'll reach the point of spark misfire sooner than a properly gapped plug. This usually only happens when boosting say more than 1 bar.

Bad gas and fuel pump could happen but fuel delivery follows the HP curve, so I'd think it would happen later in the rpm band. If there was a problem keeping up with the fuel pressure, though, it would start in the 4k range.
