removable hard tops are a cool idea, however you have to think of storing it in the car in case you happen to drive into a rainstorm. The trunk space is not nearly enough to house a simple hard shell that has no folding joints, but folding joints means more time in R&D, and obviously more funds in the same areas plus material. To humor this hard top idea, I have done a little searching for you.

new top....hardtop: 240SX Convertible Forum: Nissan Forums / Infiniti Forums - NICOclub
Custom Hardtop protype: 240SX Convertible Forum: Nissan Forums / Infiniti Forums - NICOclub

The search function on Nico is honestly better than many other forums, mainly cause its powered by Google.

JRsink tried, but it never came to fruition. Just to let you know. All I have to say is that if it were that easy, wouldn't it be done a lot more?

idk. maybe the vert owners like the verts? if they wanted a coupe they would have gotten one. maybe they like their $350+ soft top. i would rather have that than a custom top. idk it depends on what you personally like.

Something rediculous like this to turn it into a single seat roadster. Yes, I know this is a Jag D-type. And it was the best pic I could find at work.

It would be pretty interesting to see someone do something like that. Make a removable plate over the passenger seat to allow you to bolt in a seat, and some kind of rear plate to cover up and seal off the whole area b/w the back of the front seat to the trunk. With a roll bar/rear half cage and a streamline element, it could be pretty cool.
