Is this one going to actually make progress, or is it going to end up like the 510?

I personally think it's awesome and totally worth the time. It's much cheaper in the long run to build something like this. Smallblock chevy's are a dime a dozen and are extremely easy to modify/work on (they aren't very heavy engines either). To top it all off it would/will sound fucking badass.

no need for solids. i dont feel like adjusting my valves every oil change. the comp hydro rollers are good for 7000rpm

That's a myth. With today's rocker-arm technology, you can fiddle with it a bit at the beginning and leave it alone, just checking every other oil change. With a carbed setup, it's easy. The power advantages of the solid roller are too great. I've lived with a solid roller before, it's cake...even with EFI.

Plus, you're going to be in there checking the rockers and valve adjustment for the first couple of oil changes anyway.

I put the engine in and got everything put on, turbo, downpipe, BMC, etc etc. BTW you brakes work FINALLY. You need wiring finished and it will start. And all i gotta say about this build is
DO NOT WANT
sorry :\

+1 I agree. I've never heard about having to adjust your valves after every oil change. Hydraulic lifters are quiter but limit RPM capabilities, you going to adjust rocker arm geometry? Also you going with Hydro flat tappet or roller? For power i'd go with solid but meh

im turning the motor 7000rpm which is fine for hydros. theres people that turn hydros over 8000rpm

solids require constant adjustment, esp on a street motor. you have to run a decent amount of spring pressure and oiling has always been an issue on solid rollers, its a lot easier to break things when the motor idles a lot. hydro roller you adjust 1 turn past snug and leave it, you dont have to check it again, thats why you reload it so it has the ability to adjust. also hydros allow you to run a steeper opening ramp.

it will be hydro roller and most rockers these days have varying rocker ratios. So it might have an opening rate of 1.7 but still be a 1.5 rocker.
