Default Ka24de truck motor vs car motor......

I have been told the only difference in the old E motors when it came to the car and truck was the hp, cams and intake manifold. Does this hold true for the DE motors in the 240 and frontier or are they the same? I know the oil pan and pickups are different on the car vs truck but are they the same block with different oiling systems?

internally basically the same, jay.

PS pump mounts different, i think intake manifolds are different.

i think the truck DE has a distributor that is driven out of the block instead of the head like the car version. at least visually thats most of what i remember.

Thank you sir, well here is what im doing. I am putting a de motor in my hardbody and was wondering if I am going to boost this motor would it be better to buy the car motor and switch the oil pan and pickup tube or get the truck motor and swap the intake and other thing if there are any like cams and such?

i can't recall anything really being different internally. the cams could be different but it would be so slight that it wouldn't really matter either way. if you get a 240 KA, 91-93 cams are a little better (240in/248ex vs 232in/232ex) than 94-98 years.

did your truck originally have an SOHC?

if it had a DOHC, it's probably easier to stick with the truck based motor. you can still boost that without having to change intake manifolds and stuff. and the electronics/harnesses are probably better matched up for it.

it's not a common type of swap, but i doubt it would be anything you couldn't figure out. strength wise, either is built pretty much the same, so with a good tune, it should be able to handle some power.
