check engine light on '95 240sx
Just wondering you guys know how to find out what the problem is for a check engine light on a 1995 240sx? I know in '96 they switched to OBDII and you can get a unit to read the computer from the local parts store but I have not found anything to read codes for the OBDI computer. What do you think?
If you want to diagnose the code yourself... this is how you do it. It is very simple, just follow the instructions. How to Read Malfunction Codes for Your DOHC 240SX
If this is too complicated of a procedure for you, just take it to autozone. They will read the code for you and tell you what is wrong with the car (FOR FREE). My guess would be IACV-ACC Valve malfunction aka code: 25 since this is a very common problem with ka's. Does your idle jump around?
P.S. Better the check engine light than the "change engine light"

It doesn't jump around yet. I did have the idle jump around about 6 months ago and I replaced the sensor right after the air filter. I am not -sure if this is the IACV-ACC Valve you are speeking of. Thank you so much for the information! I will check out the link.
autozone or advanced wont check it cuz its a 95... currect me if im wrong,95 is the last yr they made obd1 cars 96 and up is obd2 and is what they will check unless nissan made 95's obd2

it isn't really a KA problem, its a high mileage problem. o2 sensors are supposed to be replaced what, every 60k? Most people don't even think about it until it isn't working at all. It is an easy 20 dollar fix. It isn't worth the time to replace it with a used one. Thats just dumb, unless of course, the closest parts store is a 5 hour drive away... Anyway, it is a good idea to replace the o2 sensor if your car has over 60k on it and you havn't yet... hell, at 105k, you've comin up on the second time you should have changed it.
Might be helpful/useful info for other people...
