I'm not even running a cat on my car anyway so it really doesn't matter-a new one won't make that boat motor run any faster anyways.

96 was the year that everybody went to OBD II, 95 is kind of a mix, for most auto manufacturers it just depends on when in the year they were made, early in the year = OBD I later in the year = OBD II. The only thing I have ever seen at AutoZone is the OBD II readers, but some of them may have something for the OBD I. That link to the how to on reading the codes is probably about the best way to go, I've ran in to too many people working for parts stores that don't know what the hell they are doing. Good luck.

so, everyone keeps talking about OBD1 readers...
I was unaware that those existed period.
Maybe I'm living under a rock or something
Anyone care to enlighten me?
Anyone that actually knows what they are talking about that is....

well i just changed my O2 sensor today and that was not the culprit for the engine light but the o2 definately needed replacing. It could also be the EGR
