KA bore'd 0.040 over too much??????
Ive had my block in my room for a while and i got to thinking..........
is boreing a KA Cast iron block 0.040 over too much????????????????

also my dad keep's telling me that the block wasnt bore'd by a torque plate??
is there a diffrence??
i bought the pistons and ring's from the machine shop.
there TopLine OEM replacement's with rings.
they machined the block to the piston's.
this was all done my Accurate machining in Port richey right by the carrabas on 19.

not sure what a torque plate is when it comes to boring, but I've seen KAs bored more and they have been fine... .040 doesn't really seem like that much honestly... But don't take my word for it, I'm not expert when it comes to structural integrity of the block... I'll see what I can find though...
thank's

I think it's a little much. I'd just stick with .020 over. It's not like you're going to get much performance gain with .040 instead of .020 anyway.
ka-t.org and freshalloy.com (240sx sections) are also good sites for info.

.040 is a lot less reliable then .020 and it wont make a big enough difference for you to tell.

If you've already got the pistons and block bored for it, then you might as well put it together. No reason in worrying about it any more lol.

I was talking with some of the older guys I talk shop with. they didn't really see it as a problem. Now, take that with a grain of salt because they are used to their big V8 motors. However, at the same time, those blocks are iron too. They bore and stoke the hell out of those motors. It being iron doesn't really have anything to do with it, it is the amount of metal between the cylinders. Not sure what the magic number is, but from what I can tell, you ought to be just fine.
you're planning on boost right? How much?

a torque plate is a plate that sits over the engine block where the heads go and they torque bolts down to replicate how the cylinders will change when they actually being torqued down with real heads and bolts. They then bore it.
