Help!!!!!!
Sorry to steal, but my engine makes a bit of an odd kinda clank when I first give it a rev from idle, but goes away at higher rpm, only when i quick tap the throttle from low rpm. Any idea what it could be? It has a decent amount of chain rattle, but would it be that prominent to hear from the driver seat over the exhaust?
after the initial rev all the way through the rpm band you hear nothing else and it still pulls strong as hell.

Have you done the timing chain guide delete? That is a HUGE rattle from the KA. its pretty easy to do too.
Oh just for my own reputations sake, Matt (project240coupe) neglected to tell you that before I fired it up and it went to 5k. I turned the engine over (with out plugs in) about 3 or 4 times for 10 sec intervals to pre-lube it, I also poured a cap-ful of oil in each cylinder to help with start up. Trust me the sound was clearly a rod knocking.
