Bleach was about as good as that kind of kiddie fighting show gets until the end of the SS arc. Then it got boring and they started in on DBZ-style runs of 10, 20, 30 episodes with about 5 episodes worth of interesting new material and the rest filler garbage. I stopped watching at around eps 130 though I'm considering picking it up again because filler garbage is less annoying 5 at a time than once a week, and the writer's strike has left me with few options.

To tell the truth I was very disappointed by the show even though it started out entertaining enough. I think they could've gone a completely different direction with it and made it a lot better. Go with the darker tone of the first few episodes, focused on death, the main character struggling with killing off the hollows and basically condemning innocents to oblivion, eventually tracking down and taking out the one that took out his mother. 24-26 episodes of top-notch anime summarized right there.

Ah well, in the end it turned out just to be another brainless never-ending fighting show. The darn thing's targeted at 10-year-old Japanese boys; I shouldn't be expecting existentialism from children's cartoons.

Their not all like that. A guy at my dads work has a Z with a greddy (i think) twin turbo kit, he made 740 RWHP on 19 lbs of boost. Although it is slammed..guess it is a low rider after all

Escaflowne was good, though I thought the ending was a letdown. Kinda anticlimactic after everything that happens. I still have the movie stashed somewhere waiting for a hurricane day or something to watch it.

Heh, you want friggin' existentialism go straight to Evangelion. Back in freshman year when I lived in a dorm and did pretty much nothing for a whole year, I once blacked out my window to put the room into total darkness, sat down and watched Evangelion from beginning to end (movies included) while polishing off a bottle of vodka. I wasn't quite right in the head for a few days after that...

BTW, I think you need to give some newer shows a chance. While it's true that there's a lot of garbage out there, there have been a lot of pretty good shows out in the last few years. Samurai Champloo, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Code Geass, Black Lagoon, RahXephon, Full Metal Alchemist, hell I could go on for quite a while just with shows from 2000+ that are in a similar vein to the shows you listed and are top notch.
