I'm not doubting Jim for a minute, I've seen him post solutions to problems many of times. Maybe he just didn't read it correctly or knows something I don't, but whenever I ran across the plug problem the lights just didn't work.
But that wasn't my point anyway, I just really hate "+1" answers to tech problems without any added reasoning as to why "that" answer is correct, and it's even worse when it's wrong.

Yea I have no idea if this applies to Z32's.
I just was basing it off S12's, Z31's, a couple Isuzu's, and I think it was a Maxima of some sort. They all had that made to fail plastic piece. Sorry for any confusion.
Edit: I just realized my first post was vague, I don't mean the electrical plug to the switch, I mean the piece that hits the switch.
Here is shitty ASCII art to describe badly.
() <--shit plastic stopper on pedal _____ c=[]= <--switch on pedal assembly
I assume the best bet is still to crawl under the dash and look at the brake pedal/switch, and work from there.

Why would you "+1" something that is incorrect? If that plug falls out then there is nothing there to make contact with the switch so the lights will not come on at all.
I'll agree with the switch being bad but not the plug. If the switch is good then I would look for a stuck relay or a short in the wiring.
