It is an imported DET out of a 91 Sylvia I also have the tranny out of the Sylvia......The motor is STRONG and I am stil only running the stock(7 psi) boost level. I found a dyno chart on-line of a stock DET with a 3-inch exhaust with cat and muffler max hp was 193 at the wheels and 85%+ max torque comes on around 3200 rpm... I think Im going to Desoto tomorrow night....hopefully I dont break anything(I still have an all original open-diff rear-end with 290000+ miles on it)
Great gas mileage also......the worst Ive seen so far(most all hard city miles) is 22mpg current tank Im on will probably be around 25-27mpg

Let me know if you have any more ?s

You coming out tomorrow night?

thank for the info. ive been looking @ getting a toy car and have been considering several nissans and domestics too. a 240sx sentra se-r and early to mid 80s z. domestic w/b classic 67 stang or 69 maro ss. in reality it w/b more cost effective to go the nissan way. plus the suspension setup is more what im used to working on than a vintage domestic.

when you did the swap did you swap motor tranny drivetrain ecu etc or just motor and drivetrain? i found a 90 240 for like 1500 and am thinking about getting it. body is good and straight never been wrecked. engine needs work but thats why i was curious about your setup. not to get too much in your business but was the parts for the swap under $2000? did you do the swap or was it done locally?

once again thanx for the info and your input!

obviously not @ bk tonight but thought of some other questions. ive talked to some sentra sr20det swap guys and they say the us spec sr20de tranny works just fine. the only thing is theyre talking front wheel drives.
also did the engine just drop in or were motor mounts fabricated?

reason asking is because i have also found a sentra se-r 91 and am more familiar with front drive cars. but theres nothing like the drift factor of a 240!

thanks again!

My swap included motor tranny ecu etc. Not including the tranny the parts for the 240sx swap(engine ECU wiring harness) can be had for a shade under $2000. The motor mounts are stock 240sx mounts.... Not sure how much price difference there will be between the RWD and FWD DET setup. If you do the RWD 240sx swap you HAVE to swap the tranny also.....

A note about the gearing in the DET tranny much different than the tranny that comes with the KA motors in the US 240s...

I hit 110mph in 3RD gear and still didnt hit the rev limiter.... You can probably imagine 4th and 5th..... Only problem is the SR20DET ECU governs the car around 120mph -

Let me know if your coming out next Saturday night Ill make sure and bring the 240 if you want to check it out.....

You have to watch out which setup youre going to do. If youre doing a Rear drive car (240) youll need the Silvia stuff. If youre going Front drive (SE-R) youll need the Bluebird stuff. There are differences in the setups. I dont know them all but i do know that the Silvia has DIS I like it better then the Bluebirds Dist.

that sounds like a fun as hell project with some pain in the ass thrown in. that comes with it though. I appreciate your info and still havent completely made up my mind whether 240 or se-r but i do love the drift factor! oh yeah how hard is it to find replacement parts for your swap? not for the swap itself but as far as lets say-oops blew the water pump.

wont even be in town this coming weekend. going to daytona for 4 days to celebrate my 30th b-day. Dont even think about calling me sir!

sy2173
i sent you an email about those rims. thanks for your input as well.

im gonna do some browsing thru 240sx.org. pretty much memorized se-r.net and sr20de.net by now. time for some more knowledge!
