minimum is 151 standard is 179 says the FSM. So according to that its just scraping by.
Are the FSM numbers dry or wet?
I'm going to go buy a new compression tester and try again in the next few days. The one I have is 30 something years old, though the last KA I used it on was 165ish across all 4 cylinders.
This motor is really pissing me off.

That would be sweet but I work 10-6. Cant really drive the car too far as is, no insurance, seatbelts, turn signals etc etc.
I got bitched at by one of my neighbors just a minute ago asking for me not to work on the car tomarrow because its sunday. She can go fuck her self I've spent the last 5 months to get this far and its not working correctly. Some people fucking suck.
I'll mess with ignition timing tomarrow and check for vacuum leaks again and see if it dosnt gain some power/driveablity back. If that dosnt work I'm just going to pull the motor and start working on painting the rest of the car and save up for another motor or just part the fucking car out and put the money in the bank.

Compression testers read differently. If you're seeing +/-1psi difference, that's the point. Motor is good.
edit: oh yeah, 5th gear sensor and oil pressure light are both on the lower harness. You probably swapped them. Hilarious!

I have no CEL and it idles perfectly at 900 witht he A/C switch on so the fan runs (no actual a/c compressor though). But when I let off the gas and go into neutral the revs drop to under 500 for a second before it kicks back up. Vacuum leak pehaps or bad ignition timing? There is no unburned fuel coming out of the exhaust that I've seen. I have an exhuast leak where the manifold meets the collector so its inbetween both oxygen sensors so maybe that can cause a small problem?
I also now just lost all my lights except high beams and brake lights. I have no interior lights, gauge lights, parking lights. Guess I blew a fuse.
I have alot of trouble shooting to do tomarrow. Have to be sneaky about it though and not make too much noise, dont want to upset the neighbors
I marked the distibutor and the timing cover so it went back in exactly as it came out but I think you might be right. I was actually going to start adjusting the distributor right when my neighbor stopped by to bitch at me.
