Got it up in the air right now, looks like I broke the flange on the test pipe, but I got that re-welded.

Just trying to find some new gaskets,so I can put it back together.

I'm down with that idea.

So how'd the rod bearing spin? As long as: it has oil, oil pan isn't dented, oil isn't leaving at an alarming rate, a packet of gravel didn't go through the oil pump, there's no water in the oil... then how the hell do people do this?

lack of oil woud be my guess...some people really are stupid.

my friend's KA was doing fine at 235k miles....he bought the car from someone who prolly took care of it. well he really didnt know anything about maintenance (at all..) and ran it without an oil change for prolly the better part of a year...he just "added oil" never changed it. He spun his #3. oil was black as tar (what little was in there) when we took the engine out.

tbh i have no idea. i bought it off haisanmarv or whatever his name is like 3days ago. he took the exhaust off so i was forced to drive it home without one so i wasnt really aware of any noise. it started to make a slight very slight tick, and i was informed that it was just a lifter. now, its starting to make a slight knock.
