Just so you understand why im wondering why you're both retarded, the flywheel should be one flat surface.

The only step on a flywheel I can think of is the inner portion where the flywheel bolts go. Other than that, there is no step that I can see... Unless your machinist machine the outer surface of the flywheel to be even with where the bolts go. o_O In that case he's just retarded.

Maybe you are looking at flywheels that are grooved from an aggressive clutch disc, thats all I can think of, i've installed several dozen clutches, never have I seen a flywheel that was supposed to have a different mating surface for the pressure plate vs the disc.

So what your saying is that you have put a flat resurfaced flywheel in a KA and never had any problems like the clutch slipping, etc? Cant find the link now but i read that if the step aint there the clutch will slip and blah blah blah. IIRC the step should be 0.005". I honestly think that much little material makes no difference but if its there, its there for a reason.

I've never seen one with a raised surface like that, slippage is more of a worn springs, or disc worn way too thin, deal, If I were you, i'd install it and be done, its not going to slip.

I with you Ricer. I bet if you were to measure the difference in thickness between the two you'd find that the "stepped" area is virtually the same thickness and the the other flywheels overall thickness. It might be a grams lighter, who knows. If anything its nothing more than a manufacturing difference, nothing that will affect performance.

If it wasn't there for a reason, it wouldn't be there. All of my KA flywheels were that way, even the stock one from my 100% stock 92 year old owned car.

The step down at the edge is to increase the preload the pressure plate. It's really up to your pressure plate manufacturers recommendation whether the flywheel should be stepped or not. If you need one and don't have it, the clamping force is reduced. If you have one and don't need it, the TOB and lever might be in the wrong position. I've never seen one like that, but then again I don't play with aftermarket KA stuff. The SR stuff is flat.

Well,
I was supposed to pick up my new S14 today but Cameron Shabott aka "cagedeyecam" decided not to text or call me back then turn his phone off, Cameron I need my S14 with title , I will give you what I owe or I need the $430 dollars I already paid you. you can try to hide but i will find you. i will get whats rightfully mine either way you pick. lets not make this bigger then what it is.
