So I changed out the intake cam with an S13 one and that didnt really seem to do anything. Pretty much drives the same. I'm thinking I might have a large vacuum leak somewhere or the timing chain jumped at the crank. Because after about 4-4.5k the car will boost just fine. But anything before that is lag city and it still wants to stall.

timing chain cant jump at the crank. Cast marks on the oil pump/front cover wont allow.

 

Thats true. I have no idea what the hell is going on. Stupid cars.

I guess I'll check for other vacuum leaks tomorrow and see what I find. Any one have any ideas? It doesnt break up or do anything other than not want to idle and lag really bad.

It does drive a little bit better with the S13 cam/gear though.

 

Well has it always been like this since the swap? When did it start?

 

Car ran fine. It started on the last run of the FAM event saturday. I did a compression test which show low numbers, but the leak down test proved otherwise leading me to believe the engine timing was some how off (AKA VTC gear broken)

 

I'm gonna say i'd have to see it. I could give you a list of thing to check. Any codes?

 

Dunno haven't looked. I'll check more into it tomorrow. The more I think about it the more it seems like a vacuum leak, now that I swapped cams.
