Datsun Dreaming
I've read that thread. I've also read threads on other forums. The majority of them (including that freshalloy) point back to one 240sx owner who seems to think it's a great idea. Epstein.
There's plenty of guys on other forums saying it doesn't work. Google it. Spend some time researching. It isn't a slam dunk win in favor of foaming the chassis.
And a 3 page article citing the Dow chemical company briefly summarizing the topic isn't exactly the bible. I get it. Some other nerd somewhere else documented that it increased the roof crush load X percent... etc. blah blah blah. The real question is do you feel it from the driver's seat?
And the responses to that vary from individual to individual. We can argue till we're blue in the face, the truth is this. You think it helps, I think it doesn't do shit. I'm not gonna convince you otherwise.

How old is he?
My only question is have you had any personal experience with it? Because you're keen on telling the people that have actually done it that it dosnt work. Becasue both Chris and I have already stated that there is a noticeable difference, which answers your most pointed question.

16, kind of like you. Doesn't really know a lot, but he tries. Hes already pulled and replaced the body harness, pulled all the sohc A/c shit and replaced with DOHC. This car will be pretty much a sohc chassis with all DOHC parts, so much easier.

And I still use the logic that if it helps as much as you guys claim, and only adds 8 lbs to the car, EVERY car manufacturer would be using the stuff.

That's probably more advanced than anything I've ever done. lol I don't think I have the patience for wiring.
Where are all these people with 240's that didnt notice anything? Other cars possibly because its not a 240 so the structure is different. On a 240sx it makes a huge difference.
Did you also happen to think that the way new cars are made now (new materials and structure design) they might not need the foam and just a few braces in key areas will suffice? But then on a cheap subcompact car (240sx) that is 10-20 years old and has 150k+ miles on them they could use it?
Anyways on topic headgasket and new uprights should be in today.

Its obvious that it does stiffen the frame. There's no arguing that. Can you feel the difference? I have no clue. But obviously the manufacturers don't think that current cars (excluding luxury cars) need it enough to justify the implementation costs which stretch far beyond just the cost of the foam.
