any way to increse red line on ka24de?
Ive looked and cannot find what I need an answer too. Is there any way to extend the 7 grand red line of my ka24de? is it possible to get a red line of 9 grand some how? I remember seeing a corolla in super street a few issues ago that had a 11,000 red line limit.
martin at XAT eould be a good man to answer this question thoroughly but from my knowledge, cam shafts and a valvetrain might get you to 8-8500 but thats about it... compression and shorter strokes will also gain higher RPMs

89 hatch, ur waisting space on the thread posting that shit. i know a sr could do that but my fuckin question was what could I do to increase the red line of a ka. are u sitiitng at home finding every ka thread and posting stupid comments in them?
it depends on how much time and money you've got...
with a budget that most of us would only dream of, you can get your red line as high as you want it.
basically you have to build your valve train to handle the higher rpms.
from there, you would have to balance the rotating mass.
the better the balance the higher the RPM. to get some crazy high number, you would need to increase the oiling ability.
the shop that you had balance it, would have to knife endge and polish everything. "custom" bearings so the tolerances are tight.
the higher the redline, the more its gonna cost
how high to you want it?

yeah, you get alot of those kinds of people when you start talking about building "a crappy engine" like the KA. you kinda get used to it after a while.
yes you can raise it with a rom tune or standalone ... $650-$2500
you can buy valve springs $200
you can buy bronze valve guides and stainless valves and have them fitted $1500-$2000
you can buy cams $350
you can buy alum or titanium rods (only rods light enough for that stroke) to hold 9K for $4000-$5000
you can buy pistons for $450
you can buy my assembly time on all this for $2500
--------------------------------------------------
total $10-$13K
OR
you can just turbo what you have and be happy with the fact a KA is a long stroke ... low rev motor that makes shit tons of torque way below what a high revving short stroke motor ever will.
