Default Need some help. KA-T runs like a NA when warm.

When engine is not at op. temp the car runs like a bat out of hell. Gets sideways all over the road. Once warmed up it runs like a NA 240. Car wont even break traction Any ideas what may be causing this? 93 240, T25 with SAFC II, and SR injectors.
Thanks....

I have 2 customers with the exact same issue. I want to say coolant temp sensor, but one swears that his is fine. One will be datalogging consult and a wideband for me, so I'll let you know if its more complicated than just a sensor.

either way you shouldnt be going crazy with the motor if its not a opperating temp yet. its a great way to spin a bearing, especially with a turbo.

could it be a sensor or somthing that controls open/close loop? Maybe when the car is warmed up and you go WOT it stays in closed loop? IF it stays in closed loop the tune would be off right?

You say it drives good when the car is cold (open loop), but drives like an NA when its warmed up (closed loop). Maybe the tps not telling the ecu to go into open loop. I'm not sayin thats what it is just throwin the idea out there.

hope it helps.

The open/closed loop is almost certainly not what the problem is. Even if the TPS was not sending a WOT signal, the fuel maps are not allowed to go into closed loop over 4k(?) or with any decent airflow.

My theory is that your knock sensor is going crazy, which is forcing the ECU to pull timing way back. That would make it feel like gutless. There is an enrichment table in the ECU versus coolant temp, but it only takes about 1-2 minutes to get to the part where it's basically no correction. Anything past that will not be coolant temp related.

You guys will never guess what caused it.We are replacing the part today just to be sure 100% it was that. But we tested it last night and the car squated and took off then the clutch started slipping. But after we replace it and are positive that was the problem I will reveal the secret.

No wastegate spring.when it heats up the spring gets really weak and holds no boost.
