q45 vs. 300zx brakes
umm whats the point of upgrading if i dont drift or track my car? well the point is to make the car a well rounded vehicle that does everything fairly well. the suspension is built, so now i need somewhat better brakes. after that ill start the motor.....thanks for your time.
hello, to start, theres two differnt generetions of Q45 brakes 1st gen is all the way to 96 and the rotors are 11 inches, calipers are smaller the 2nd gen and pads are also smaller then 2nd gen, 97 and up uses th 11.3/4 rotors bigger pads and rotors. on the first and secong gen you can live the factory master, but you will have a little spongy fell at the pedal, put a z32 master and that proble is fixed, companies like hawk make a really good pad for it. the first gens alow 15 inch wheels to fit( depenging on th offset) stock se's and teardrops will clear. on the second gen's, you have to use 16'' and up wheels.
if you are still four lug i will drill each rotor for $20. i think thats all. call me if you have any questions.

i believe the calipers are off a 93, the kid i got them from has to double check. anyways most of the reason i wanted q45 is they are direct bolt on and i dont need conversion lines (i have SS on the car already). with out the z32 mc will i still feel a difference? and i plan on axis pads or something of that caliber, and slotted rotors.
Q45 front brakes are 2 piston sliding
Z32 front brakes are 4 piston fixed
stock are single piston sliding (front and rear)
The Z32 BMC isn't required until you really are doing full front and rear Z brakes. By then, you're pushing 12 pistons total compared to 4 stock. with Just Z brakes up front or just Q brakes up front, you'll still feel the braking difference. The Z BMC for just a front brake upgrade is mostly for people who use the open tracks. I run stock BMC, and pedal is good, i am used to it. for a track day i would need better fluid and pads, as i develop some fade and pedal stiffness from the generic pads/fluid i use (only on hard street runs).

thats true, ive never driven an s13 with z brakes up front/stock bmc. and in the world of bmc's, 1/16" is a big difference lol. i have non abs, so i dont have the best one, but compared to s13 non-abs, im sure there is a big difference.
Rather then starting a new post, Thought I would ask my question here if you dont mind..
I have a S13 and just installed front and rear Q45 brake set up. My question is, can I use the master brake cylinder off a q45? Or is the z32 the only MBC upgrade that bolts on?
Thanks...
Thanks...
Haven't looked at a Q45 BMC before. Check out an FSM to see if it has the specs that you're looking for (split point, diameter). A lot of BMC's will bolt on, but you should make sure that it has enough ports for all of your lines (3).
