So i blew the head gasket in the 240 at Sebring on Saturday. Some ironic things happened that day. 1) I only run track days in the cooler months, so that I don't over heat the car. 2) CFP Ivan offered to trailer the car down to the track, I replied "no i've never had an issue at the track"

We were stuck at the track with no way to get back to St Pete to get Ivan's truck and trailer. I have a tow service through my insurance but they only pay 50.00 towards towing and AAA plus only pays for 100 miles.

We needed to get back to St Pete so I called Enterprise and rented a car and we drove to the burg and picked up the truck and then drove back to Sebring. We got to Sebring about 7:30pm and loaded-up the car. We finally got back to St Pete at 10:30.

Now the technical part of the post. Which head gasket do you guys recommend? I don't run a lot of boost nor do I run a lot of hp but I do run the car flat out for 15 - 30 minutes at a time on the track.

We are pretty sure a coolant hose at the back of the head failed which in turn caused me to loose all of the coolant.

I want to thank CFP Ivan for offering his truck and trailer and driving around the state of florida for 10 hours on Saturday. He went above and beyond what most people would do!

wow. such happy postings for such a bad day. great way to keep the spirits up, patrick.

umm..

I'm personally a fan of the exact bore diameter cometics with fire ring. they are custom order. .040" thick. they have worked great for me. holding 400+ whp and 47 pounds of boost for numerous events. can't really argue with that. and they are readily available.

another good one to get is apexi, but they take alot longer to get, and are more difficult.

if youre not trying to run more than 450 whp, i'd reccomend the cometic all day long. i run them in all my motors.

the money that you save doing the cometic can help you save up for some real head studs.

Thanks Matt, cometic seems to be the hg of choice.

Just make sure you get a custom one, not one of the ones that are normally shelved. i'd just order it directly from cometic.

Will do. btw, compression is 35 across all cylinders, coilpacks were melted and the knock sensor is fine.

because it's nissan tech, and the story backed it up. make more sense! lol

patrick, good luck man.

while it's down you should snag a setrab and some -8 lines and fab up an oil cooler system. would definitely help you on the track days. (though im sure you head to the track with fresh oil)

ps next time let me know, im 45 min from sebring and i have AAA, a truck, and can find a trailer in about 10 minutes lol (u haul down the road).
