Modified exhaust at all is enough for a ticket.

 

The only thing that REALLY pisses me off about the exhaust tickets are the fact that I would guess 75-80% of ALL Harley and Harley-wannabe bikes are WAY outside this dB range and I have never even once seen a cop pulling one over or heard of them getting an exhaust ticket. I mean when you have one riding next to you with a custom set of pipes and you can't hear yourself when you are almost yelling...that's a little much.

 

It all depends on the cops, counties, and their 'ticket quota'. I have greddy evo2, which is pretty much next to stock -- z06's are louder than my car, stock. I've been past tons of cops, tons of troopers, and I drive my car EVERY single day more than 25 miles, sometimes more than 50 miles each way. I get on the turnpike, I-4, 408, 417, 528, etc, and I've never had a cop pull me over, even though my exhaust is modified, because a) I don't speed, b) I don't go full open throttle to hear my exhaust spit because it's uber jdm, c) I don't stretch my gears and try to hit 10,000rpm's, d) my car is one color, looks mainly stock from an untrained eye, e) i don't slow down, or speed up, or act differently when around, near, at the side, of a cop.

Most people say "I got tagged", yeah because you were either a) committing a crime, or b) show signs of fucking up. lol

My cousin got one, but he has a lead foot, but in his case a state trooper popped a u turn just to pull him over. $75.00 tickets FTMFW!

and IT SAYS AFTERMARKET, WHICH MEANS AFTER THE FACT THAT THE ORIGINAL PRODUCT HAS LEFT THE 'MARKET' AND YOU, SAID AGENT HAS MODIFIED THE PRODUCT FROM THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS.

but, one bone I have to pick is that -- what about modified trucks, or let's say 'srt10's, king ranch fords, harley davidson fords, saleen mustangs, etc'; they all come from the factory with mufflers that meet the necessary requirements, but I'm just as sure that borla or flowmaster mufflers that are on those whips don't ALL meet the requirements of being under the decibel reading -- most new mustangs are louder than my evo2.

 

good point i never thaught of that... cobras and things that already have aftermarket shit as "market" are usually loud as fuck.... sooo say that get a ticket i wonder if they could make them put a 6 cylinder exhaust on....

 

exhaust ticket = fuckin ghey. go to court. make the cop look like a dip shit. the judge will pretty much much be like WTF at the cop for giving an exhaust ticket.

 

I have beaten all my exhaust tickets in court. Yes we are singled out because of the cars we drive. No they dont pull over the loud ass choppers. I am getting an E-cutout FTW. Stock muffler with 2.5 inch piping. 4 inch downpipe with a a push button to open it up.

 

Okay, qutie a few points that suck on your side of the argument. Especially the statement above.

Do you really think the officer can tell (or even give two shits, for that matter) if the exhaust cost $10 off Ebay, or is a decent apex'i system? You are not allowed to have a modified exhaust, period; they don't have to prove its louder than legal. If its modified, it's almost %90 garaunteed that it will be noisy, anyways.

Secondly, you said you were just "driving along" with a turbo rx-7, a turbo supra, and a suzuki bike. I can tell from the way you talk that there was no way in hell that you were just cruising along minding your own buisiness. You were probably going 60 when they passed you, and you tried to catch up to them and got pulled over. Thats what you get for driving a 240, the cop knew he couldn't catch the other cars... :O

And for christs sakes, its a damn exhaust ticket, take it to court or pay it, just stop bitching about it.

I had a modified exhaust on my spec v when I was pulled over for speeding. The cop made it a point to say something about after writing me a ticket for speeding, but I just shrugged it off. I didnt put it on there, and I had the facts to prove it, so even if he did write me a ticket, he knew it wasn't worth the time.

 

not to mention your exhaust is a Apex'I "like" exhaust from ebay anyways =)
