Nissan Mega Meet - 2007
Ok, so the time has come. An opportunity has presented itself.
Upon discussing some people's cars, we learned there have been plans for guys to come down to test in Florida this winter. Mazworx, being in Florida, said "Hey, maybe some friendly track runs". Others have jumped into this, and it might shape up to be a nice little shindig, if we can get this organized.
So far, a few of the names who want to show up:
-AMS (Ivan, formerly of Phat KA-T). 9.22 @ 155
-Mazworx (of Orlando) 9.22 @ 155 (yes same times) SR
-Hybridynamics (of Maryland i believe). holds stock block SR record at 640whp or something nasty.
-Duy from Texas...big supra guy, his old KA-T car lies dead somewhere in Tampa. his new ka-t car ran mid 10's. he then gave that engine to someone else who just dynoed near 600...plopped a 2jz into his s14 and runs 8.90's with more to come.
-miami guys. these guys arent well known online but they come out of the woodwork with nasty RB swaps, and 700hp KA-Ts that no one has ever seen.
-duy wants to bring 3 or 4 other guys...all i can say is RB swap + powerglides + back halved....wheeee.
and of course we can gather some of the big dogs from tampa, orlando, and maybe some of the random guys from north florida. (punisher, xat cars, maybe some enjuku done rides).
this has potential to be something nice. now before we get comments about people saying "240 owners are cheap". yes i know that. we're working aroudn this, being that alot of them are growing up more and people are spending money and getting nicer setups. that and the longer notice should help.
first, this is a feeler thread to see who would be down for this. as for time, we're looking at feb-march, to get past the holidays crap, allow people to pay off their xmas bills, and have the weather be just about perfect (still cool, but sunny and warm in the day). it will be a weekend deal, and were looking at trying a 2 day thing. we have a connection in kissimmee who owns a hotel (he's a G35 guy) and willing to work a discount if its held in orlando.
first was time. we'd like to do it on a weekend that isnt somehow a drift day or tr trackday or whatnot. i wont know any dates yet but im gonna try and contact mike ranlet and scott of TR to see if they have anything tentative so we can pick a weekend thats good. obviously we wont be able to please everyone.
second is location. thing is, this is hard to do, but we've really already narrowed it down to tampa or orlando. orlando has the 1/4 mile track closer. tampa is good too, but 30-45 min drive to bradenton 1/4 mile is a bit much. were thinking orlando only because its central to florida, the miami guys never like to drive but 2 day event will help them, north florida guys as well, and from lakeland/tampa its no more than an hour or hour & a half. but i want to know who would want to go to orlando for this. we wouldnt all have to stay in the hotel as i know lots of the guys come back and forth and crash at people's houses which is cool too.
but envision this: massive hotel packed with 240 owners, booze, strippers, etc. haha.
third, we need to know what people are up for.first up, i will suggest no drifting event. just the setup, insurance, and time it will take from the day will be alot. we could look at a drifting exhibition, maybe the oval at OSW, being people have been there, and bring out some of the big guys like enjuku, xat, some of the more pro drivers just for a nice show.
this is how i see option 1:
saturday:
start at noonish. big picnic/bbq/hangout/meet day. possible vendors on site, maybe some raffles of parts off or gift certificates for parts, maybe raffle off a shell or something lol. fun stuff. try to bring everyone together. then either have a dinner somewhere as a group (need suggestions on what place would fit us), or break into groups and eat as u want, then maybe do a cruise through orlando and hang out in a hardpark for a while, make fun of fuel slut domestics or ricers or something. hit the hotel and get drunk as fuck.
sunday:
track day. unfortunately, we're not a group of hardcore type R owners who can rent a big sweet track, so none of that. we figure to rent a 1/4 track for people to go out and run and break and whatnot. mazworx has ties to titan, maybe we can get them out there too just to help offset the costs. i know not everyone loves drag racing but having a 2 day meet makes it optional to come to one or the other or both. a nice thing about OSW is we could set it up so maybe someone could book an oval drift day there and u pick and choose what u want???? i know not everyone likes ovals but some dont seem to mind. this would at least make it a dual-day. though even just hanging out at the 1/4 track would be fun watching the big cars run and shooting the shit.
if anything i just need ideas and discussion on this. so far, bill (stealthmodes14) and i are working on this but im not a great meet organizer guy. bill put together the one in north tampa in like 2003, that was a badass meet and dyno day too. i figure a dyno day could be in the afternoon of the first day or morning of 2nd day (track day in the afternoon - no worries on rain showers since winter is usually dry).
vendors, shops, lookin at you. ill try to contact them after we get this finalized so we can get a raffle or something fun going on and have some nice display cars on site, xat, enjuku, DC, titan, mazworks, shops from south florida, etc etc.
id also like to keep this nissan oriented but we'll allow other people to come. if there is a supra, evo/dsm, subby, meet wanting to jump in it might help a little but we stil lwant to maintain focus on nissans (im not going to limit it to s chassis, but thats what most of it will be, but we wont shun any sentras/Z's, etc u know - love for all)
we gotta plan now or else this wont happen.

Whorelando would suck cuz I'm lazy and hate to drive but this sounds like a badass idea no matter what. If it's in Orlando so be it...I'll have to pony up and drive out there. Honestly the Orlando Spinworld is a good idea (although the track there BLOWS) I do like the idea of having the 1/4 and the drift thing if it can be pulled off. There's always a massive 350z/G35 meet every year around here, those guys have money, we should contact some of those groups to see if they would be interested in helping offset the cost of a possible track rental. Either way I'm totally down for whatever. I've been saying for a while we need to have a big Nissan meet that people actually show up for.

I also was planning on doing another meet in April 2007 similar to the last one I set up. Here's the link Fort Lauderdale Meet 2006.
Can you shoot me an email and possibly we can combine our efforts?

thing is, theyd have to be willing to move it up a month or so because id like to combine it with when these big guys come down to test out, im sure everyone would love to be there to watch it. i believe bill has posted on SFL240sx. i should register on there since my girlfriend lives in hialeah and i should be making more trips down there now. check with your board and see if bill has posted his thing on there (me and him are doing the feeling out for it as of now to see if its worth planning). he goes by blacks14 or stealthmodes14 or whatever.
Dan....me and Josh have spoken on the phone (jrivera)....we have come to the conclusion that NICO, us and SFL240Sx (with thier April BBQ) are all going to combine our efforts.....this things is going to be FUGGIN HUGE. I still have yet to talk to Torry (NICO rep), but with his backing financially...this could be a very big thing.
Dan...I need to get your point of contact so as to keep in touch with you on certain things. We'll def need your help bro......let me know.

Dan this is awesome. Sounds like good times. I'm down and I am sure the rest of the XAT Team is too. I will talk to C$ about this when he gets back from Sema and see if we can help out too.

I will be calling OSW tomorrow too to see what the rates are for renting the track for a day.....as well as maybe heading to Titan for a dyno day?? Or XAT?? DO they have a dyno in thier new large facility?
With NICO backing us.....I think (hopefully) the mone side of this won't be too much of an issue.

Not that mine opinion changes anything, but I think Orlando would be the best choice. I say this for the one simple fact that it has a great central, well known, location. Holding it in tampa to do runs at a track 45 minutes away just doesnt sound appealing enough. BMP is a great track, but the extra drive is killer, and definately a decision changer to those people who have already spent their fair amount of time driving to florida(oh, and the guys down in Miami). And the fact that orlando (especially the O.C. area) is so well suited for large get-togethers and meetings, that event space and accomidations would be a peice-of cake. Not to mention OSW and the strip are close-by and well-known, adding to the appeling factor of Orlando.
And If it makes any difference, I'd be more than willing to house some of my fellow poor nissan drivers!
I live like 5min away from the convention center...
This idea is looking awesome considering it is in its early stages. If we can keep this thing as organized as it is now, I see no way of this falling through. Good Luck, I hope this can be pulled off!

2 - im sure the owner, being a car guy, knows what risks are there and im sure we'll talk to him. 3 - anyone who messes won't leave alive i tell u that lol. louisville slugger fender rollers to the head dont feel too good

xat has an inground dynojet, but being this will probably be held in orlando, we'll have to make use of titan's or someone over there. (or find the rates on the MOBILE dyno hmmmmmm) a 2 day event is nice, but a 2 location event will be confusing and hard to plan....though i would shed tears at the largest S chassis caravan from tampa to orlando that would be badass.
