Go home with that redkneck ls1 swap. You know you cant talk like that with the Bandit around putting down more power and running at every event....

ok.. built both... built lots of both motors.. built lots of both motors with lots of different customer goals in mind. SR > KA for high end power. PERIOD END OF STORY. KA rods are strong if shotpeened and rod clearance is set right while running synthetic and 0 detonation. Bandit ran 350-400rwhp (330-390ft-lbs) all season long on original shotpeened rods. KA pistons ok to about 330.. but SR pistons are cast a lot thicker with way thicker lands and are very very good. KA's blow headgaskets.. you can not get around this.. 23+psi fries headgaskets quite regularly. A turbo KA is not a good noob build.. A SR is a good noob build... but then again there is no such thing as a easy build.. you have to know your shit. If all else fails (or if motor fails) come see me.

i think with money, either one works. there's always gonna be someone with a ridiculous build and there's always gonna be someone with a build at any stage blowing it up and adding to the stats.

just remember, even with a 1000hp SR or KA, there will be some guy with a 1500 supra or turboed bike or something faster. always. and IMO, i dont see anyone on this forum that has a car that requires more than 550hp, much less 450 honestly.

Thanks for the input guys. im trying to learn as much as i can about nissans engines, thats all. Im not worried about having the fastest/most powerful engine, just something to act as a stepping stone into builiding. wow, that sounded gay. but yeah, ithink its the sr20 for me anyways, it seems there are a lot more things to guide me (if needed) through building an sr than going with the unstable KA-T.

the only thing that can be unstable about the ka is the owner.

ghetto ka-t's blow up left and right.

properly built, non 160k mile ka-t work fine

True, but there is a small sense of accomplishment in putting together your first turbo car. If it breaks at least you didn't spend a bunch of money for a short term engine. (FYI Kevin keeps talking about my old ka-t which was fun and for 1100 I got my 11 months of fun out of it as a daily)

As far as the put ls1 in it. I like nissan with nissan. In my dumber youth days I thought it was cool to see a 2j or V8 in a s-chassis, but now I know that everything has been done before and there is no reason to try to be different it just causes more headaches than happiness. For example chin180sx if he is even still on TR hasn't had his car running since he took the SR out.
