More then likely on this specific car, The lower tensioner is bad as well, the top retainer will take away some of the noise....

Have you drained the tranny and replaced fluid yet?

i just cut the ac belt yesterday, that solved the squek. and on the tranny fluid i havnt gotten around to that yet, i always drain and replace all my fluids when i get a new car. i took off the valve cover last night and i just got confused but im pretty sure i know which ones to take off. on the cam gears there are 2 chains that go from the gears to a shaft which leads to another single gear with what looks to be the primary timing chain driving it. on top of the chain there is what looks to be 2 10 mm bolts that holds down a plate. but it kinda looks like it connected to the fastners that hold the cams in place. i didnt want to take a chance. but if i do pull those two bolts that plate will come off?

yes, pull bolts and plate and toss in trash, do not replace bolts, as they could come back up and out and into your engine which = bad.

Yep yep.
Just remove the piece of angle with the bolts that holds it down.
If you look under the angle, you might see a crack along the inside corner of the angle. My KA had a crack, which means it could break off, and fall down somewhere and fu*k something up.
I called nissan dealership, they said they dont' even carry that part anymore because its discontinued.
