Default Tire Fitment Question

Man I'm ready for flaming, but I really need to know..

I have a '97 240 and want to put a 16x8 wheel on there, only problem (i think) is I don't know what size tire to put on there. Im thinking around 225/45 or 225/50, but again, im not sure whats gonna go right. Dammit I hate sounding like such a noob...

Is there a good place to find fitment for the S14? I'm curious to know what the widest tires you can fit in the front/rear with out having to do serious modification to the fenders.

^^^ That all depends on coilover clearance (if any), and wheel width/diameter...

Not really concerned about that, as I have the offsets and wheels size.
I also dont have any coilovers to worry about...yet...

Yeah I know that, I was sorta just being a dick and quzi-hijacking your thread...sorry. Why can't you run a larger tire with the 8" wide rims? I thougth you could fit a 235 or 245 on there? Being the MkIV Supra wanna-be buff that I am I know the stock front rims are 17x8 and they come standard with 235 and everyone just replaces them with 245's. My tires are 215/50 on the stock SE rims and I think they look fine(although my car sits pretty low)...

what offsets on your 8" wheels? that will determine how big u can go on tire size obviously.

w/o fender modification u can run pretty big tires, just takes the right offsets. for a 16x8 with a ~+30mm (using R32 wheels as example), u can run 245 on an 8, 245/45-16 would be a nice wide patch, but 225/50-16 or 235/50 is a good one too, it just depends what you wanna pay for and what u think looks and feels right. anything under 225 on an 8" wheel is gonna be a little stretched, u can do 255 on 8, 265 would get bulgy. (255 might bulge a little)

keep this thread going with what has been done and ideas.

On my s13 with 17x9 +15 fno1rc 245/45r17 doesn't fit in the rear rubs fender by 1cm clears MR coilover by 1.5".

Will eventually 50mm widebody and try to tuck 275 dr's in the back and if clearance is still nice 295/305's but that will be pending fitment of the first.

Same wheel/tire (245/45r17)will fit on s14 rear easy and clears fender/tanabe coilover by 1" (coilover) 1cm (fender).

I'm going 225/50 on my 16" wheel that's 8" wide.
And 205/55 on the 16" wheel that's 7" wide.
Offset is +20mm, which is medium offsets.
I think ill need 15mm wheel spacers.
Fu*k yeah they are stretched hehehe. looks good too.

You want to go one size more on the sidewalls on S14's fronts because the car would look more leveled out.

Damn, and you dont have any clearance problems? Elaborate, please.

I think if your wheels were any bigger it would look retarded.

Don't hate, but there +32 offset. I know its cuttin it, but w/e...
I was making my mind up on the 225/50, is there any stretch to that, or is it pretty much an even match?
