Default Speed Sensor

From what I have read the speed sensor on a 1990 240sx hatch is on the transmission. So if I put my auto tranny in drive and pull the car with my fourwheeler, would it register a speed on the gauge cluster and will it affect the odometer any? I need to know because I want to make sure everything is working in my car before I go much further on my work. Also, all I need is a battery hooked up with the positive and negative terminals correct?

If you have to pull your car with a 4 wheeler to test the speed sensor it sounds like you have bigger issues. I would'nt worry about it because it's an easy thing to replace if it's bad.

the speed sensor should work as long as the key is in the ON position.
