Default A/C question

Hello all
Have a S13 with a/c problems. The light on the panel doesn't light up when I push it in. I was looking through the wiring diagrams and can't really figure out why it won't kick on. everything else on the climate control works. I have changed it out three times but still nothing. I sucked down the A/C system and when I went to put A/C (R134A) back into it again nothing happens. anybody know of a fix for this or what wire I need to jump over to make work. I have already changed the rely in the engine bay as well, and put a new dryer on it. Its getting hotter so I need to try to get this working. thanks all for the help
Chris

The light on my A/c doesnt light up, but thats due to there being a big whole in the condensor
But if I have read what you are saying right, then you have got gas in the system.
I know its not of any real help to you but at least it will rule one thing out!!!!

if when you charge the system and you say nothing happens, can you elaborate? the system doesn`t take the charge? the compressor doesn`t come on? those 2 happen and it still doesn`t cool?

Here's the deal. There's a sensor on the dryer called the tripple pressure switch. If your refrigerant pressure is too high (overcharged) or too low (empty) it will turn off the compressor in order to prevent damage. If the AC light is not on, the AC system is not engaged because there is a fault.

You can jump the relay externally if you have the wiring diagram. I'd make sure that you have the proper type and ammount of oil in the compressor first.

the compressor doesn't turn on and the system doesn't take the freon. And yes the light doesn't come on for the control panel. I guess I would run a wire directly to the switch???(control panel?) well will try something not sure what but something
thanks again

. wow, gonna need to do some diagnostics. compressor locked up? expansion valve plugged? not attaching the charge hose correctly? even if it was plugged you should be able to get a couple cans in there. can you turn the compressor clutch by hand? if you run a jump wire across the 2 wires on the low pressure switch, does the compressor engage? is the compressor clutch plugged in?

I haven't tried to turn the clutch plate by hand. I will find that low pressure switch and jump the two wires and see if the compressor engages. that would be a good start to see if I need another compressor. thanks guys

well I jumped the wires on the dryer plug and the system came to life...but..... the compressor is shot. the clutch plate won't move and the belt just freezes up. I think I will need a compressor. but atill not sure why the A/C button in the car doesn't light up.... that I will still have to figure out after a get a compressor....
thanks again
