Heck I've run 15ish psi through my non intercooled 170k mile n/a vg30e and it hasnt blown... though I wish it would so I could swap to my other engine.

but yea above 12 psi you should have an i/c

Are you sure the boost controller is working correctly? spiking that bad isnt normal

 

Weather effects MBCs, so that might be part of it. It does sound like the MBC is sticking, though. 67% overshoot is significant!

 

Figure it out yet Jeff? I still believe its a loose coupling or pipe. That the only explainable thing IMO. I've encountered it often.

 

no i havent.. im gonna pull the charge pipe off as soon as i get up and take a shower..

 

sounds like you blew your turbo. and don't run more than 10psi on the ho pipe, go get an intercooler.

 

ok i took the charge pipe off and put new hardware(b/c u couldnt tightin the stock b/s) and that worked kinda. it still falls on its face when the boost kicks.. 1st gear doesnt do shit 2nd is a little better but not the same as before.. the boost is getting there......... i duno.. i pull all the piping off this time to check the turbo out. theres hardly any shaftplay. there is sum oil/sumthing on the pipe going to the MAF but none on the turbo........

no other ideas.. this is fucking gay as shit...


the weird thing is every now and again it will run fine under boost... but most the thing it like a vavle or sumthing is openin up. u can hear it.. FUCK!

 

sounds like a bad MAF if all else isnt leaking
maybe it was on its way out and the newfound boost killed it.

i'm gonna have to go with split coupler probally closest to the turbo


unless the black stuff you saw in the piping is raw oil but then you would notice spy hunter style smoke coming from the tailpipe if thats the case time for an upgrade or new seals

as far as running no ic UNSATISFACTORY even a stock sr sidemount is better than none!!!! if you plan on running on more than 6 to 8 pounds it's a must or bad shit will happen!!!! if you need a side mount cheap call trey or moe at 941-955-7570
