Air/fuel meter problems
I bought an autometer Air/fuel meter that's been used, however it looks to still be in decent shape. I sent the purple wire into the engine bay and connected it to the shielded wire that comes from the o2 sensor. The other two were the 12 v and ground.
I hooked everything up, and from what i understand and what I've seen, it should be searching with the light going from rich to lean at idle and it should go to rich under acceleration and lean under deceleration.
However, that is not what I am seeing. It appears that it 'warms up' so to speak. Whenever I first start up my car, I look at it and it stays lean, if not off the gauge in that area. Then, after driving a while, with acceleration at a decent rpm and small amounts of boost, it will gradually work it's way up to stoich. But it hardly ever gets to green, even on a 1.5 hour trip to tampa. What is wrong?
I have a few guesses:
1)it's something with the 02 sensor, bad? needs to be cleaned??
2)maybe it took the purple wire to the wrong part, maybe it should be closer to the ecu
3)my 12v or gnd is not good enough, it comes off my radio power and grounds to the a decent chassis ground.
it's a pretty much stock SR blacktop with the fat 02 sensor i believe, t25, stock mani and dump pipe, and stock boost. thanks,

it's a narrowband O2; therefore it gives you a very vague idea on how your car is doing if you want an accurate reading of how your car is doing invest in a wideband o2 for about 300 installed and eliminate the rainbow gauge its a distraction anyway. Hope that helps.

yeah, i had gotten it in a trade, so I figured i would give it a shot. It's nice to know sorta where your car is running though. I have a greddy egt yet to be installed, I'm waiting to do my turbo mani and etc before i install it. I suppose air/fuel will have to go bye bye for now. thanks,
