The ve dose not use rocker arms and it flows a hell of a lot better then the de. As for head lift when taking down a motor just replace the head studs and problem solved.
The sr20 has been around for a long time and they just keep making it better.
Yes, it flows better than the SR16 and SR20VE heads.. Even the SR16VE N1 head. Yes, the VE DOES use rocker arms.. but they are on pivot bars. Did you read my post about the head stud issue? It's not about the studs or bolts.. it's about the threads tapped in a pourous alluminum block, which can be physically yanked out of the block when you put extreme force on the head. I've seen it happen... Why do you think the JUN Silvia hasn't even made it real big in the drag scene? They can't keep the head down. Yes, the SR20 has been around for a long time, and overall, it's a great motor for turbocharging.. I don't dispute that. I have built 4, 5, and 600+whp SR's.. I know what it takes.. But, the facts are the facts.. it does NOT surpass the QR in terms of design and potential.. Not even close.

Its amazing what 15 extra years of engine development at Nissan does. I peeked at a newer VK45 and about shat myself. Closed deck, x-brace, 6bolt mains! I think the trend of time is taking over in this comparison. Every new model has more new technology, more revised parts, and more engineering. I'm referring mostly to the oiling, casting, etc. The QR valvetrain sounds exactly like the one in my dinosaur KA motor.

Yeah... isn't it funny that Nissan puts valvetrain that can be revved to the moon.. on engines that have horrible rod/stroke ratios.. (KA and QR).

Nissan motorsports just made ove 750hp on a stock block VK motor.. it's definately a beast.

i couldn't choose between the 2.So i got a b13 det'd,and an 04 spec.Really not a match now.I definetly see the potential but the amount of shifting you have to do in the 6spd is rediculous.I mean 3 shifts to 50,is my biggest complaint. With the 6000 red line i think it would be hard to get high boost.
Oh,well i'll let every one figure that out while i have fun in my boosted b13.
