nissan sentra problem
car just shut off on the highway, out of nowhere. k, put it in neutral, starts back up, sputters a bit, and drives ok for 3 more minutes.
now car shut off on my friend on his way home, and dies. wont stay started, but the battery is fine, alternator is not the problem.
its getting spark i believe, i think its a fuel problem. has about a quarter tank in it, maybe sucked up some shit and plugged fuel pump or filter? it cranks everytime, but just wont run.
its a late 90's sentra, not sure of motor size as its 4 in the fucking morning and im beat trying to diagnose on the side of the road. but its nothing special (this car).
maf is fine, IAC might have gone, etc. so what do you guys think, is there anything else that might give these cars fits maybe that i dont know?
thanks for all your help,
Dustin

are you sure the MAF is fine? Might be crank position sensor....not sure. Check the injectors, pump, fuel filter, etc as well.

i unplugged the MAF and it wouldnt start at all. i was hoping it would maybe piggy back and run pig ass rich. plugged it back in and back to the same wants to crank but wont fire
i dont think a MAF would cause a car not to start, with a MAF it should run, but just horribly ya know what i mean.
replaced fuel fliter today, wasnt the issue
so back to the drawing board, anyone else?
i wont be able to run a diagnostic tester on it till monday, so if its the CPS i wont be able to tell till then, but he has a friends sons birthday party to go to sunday and itd be nice for him to drive there, lol

Sounds like you have a GA16DE. This happened to my brother's old 200sx with the same motor. You need a distributer cap and rotor. That's the only problem we had with that car in 90k miles.

i'm thinking MAF. But fuel pump is another possibility, along with cap/rotor/wires.
use STOCK nissan wires! those other brands basically suck.
