Z31 diff's don't have output shafts. The axles have a stub that inserts in to the side of the diff.

If you're running S15 electronics, you need a speed sensor signal from the S15 diff. If your S15 internals are broken, but the ring and pinion gears are ok, you should be able to stuff a regular vlsd unit into the S15 diff. I say "should" because people put S15 guts into regular pumpkins, so I don't see why it wouldn't work the other way. If the gears are trashed, then you have to get another S15 diff.

On a side note, you can try to feed the S15 ecu with an ABS signal from a J30/Z32/ABS diff, but the freqency coming from the sensor is entirely too high. The two different signals are linearly correlated, so it is feasible to wire in a frequency converter and end up with a working setup.

NERD! LOL!
Bearings should be universal, and if you broke one of the output shafts, contact JSpec.com for a $300 pair of replacements. However, make sure the one they sell is the correct side. There is a short one and a long one. JSpec sells 2 long ones.

If this is the Green hornet and Im pretty sure it is, I installed that beater motor and rear end. Im a little rusty as I havent been in the car scene for a while but you can either 1) get a s13 dif(taylor had one for sale) switch the diff cover and use s13 rear end bolts, grab yourself a s14 driveshaft and call it a day OR you can do what some people have said and grab another s15 rear end. The speed sensor is connected using a signal conveter from your s15 rear end to your engine harness if I remember correctly...two wires. Im not sure how it would work out but maybe if you did find a j30 with the speedsensor in it you could simply re-hardwire it into the current setup and recalibrate the signal converter. Just an idea, good luck with it. Honestly for the price, swap over to a stock open diff and grab a s14 or custom driveshaft and call it a day. $400 should be your high price for that if you do it yourself.
