sohc to dohc swap trouble
Ok I'm going to try and explain this the best I can. 90 240 with a 95 ka and a s14/s13 converted harness done by Taylor. I just swaped it for my sohc and it ran fine for a day or two and now it won't start, I turn the key on and the egi relay starts buzzing, the starter just clicks then ignition control fuse blows. It's obvisuly a short , but where can it be and what is the egi? Thanks for any help

HAHAHA welcome to owning an 89-90 240SX!! the pair of egi relays involve the fuel pump. from past experience, i'd say your fuel pump is locked up and hsorting out the system. ask mattback about that one when he rushed me over one from clearwater brandon over 2yrs ago! HAHAHAHA

Well I replaced the fuel pump and got a new z32 filter. It's accually turning over now but it still won't start and the egi relay is still buzzing. ???????

Running for a few days.... sounds like a dead battery due to the charging system. First make sure that you hooked up the alternator correctly in the swap. Then check the alternator fuse. If you're sure that the connections are all good, then your alternator may have crapped on you. Try jumping the car, then measuring the battery voltage. A healthy, alternator driven system should come in around 13.5V or greater. If you're getting around 11.X, then your alternator isn't charging.
It's a new alternator but, its from my once cam since im using my 90 lower harness I figured it wouldn't matter. Could that be the problem??
