Default In measuring crankshaft/ bearing sizes...

Hey guys. Just got my crank balanced last week and I'm in the process of measuring the journals to see what bearings I need. ( s13 sr20) I have a micrometer with graduations of .0001". Here's the thing: One main journal, for example, I've had results ranging from 2.1649 to 2.1638. I'm trying to get the ends of the micrometer as flush to the side of the crank as possible. Is that the proper way to measure the crank journals? I have a FSM right here in front of me but the pictures do not really show where the micrometer is placed as far as distance down the journal. Then, when I look up my results to page EM-80....most of my results fall into grade no. 0. When I did the block stamp with crank numbers, I didnt' get one grade no. 0. Any advice well appreciated....thanks in advance!
