The shop I took my motor to for machine work, had he built the motor, would have given 6 months, 5000 miles. Provided you have the fuel and tune for the power level you are running.. when you put an engine together reusing only the crank, replacing everything else.. the warranty is only for piece of mind to the customer. If the builder bolts everything together right.. there aren't issues. And overrevving is easily detectable. As is detonation. As is lack of oil, and just about every other owner-causable issue.

However, every rebuild I've seen from a shop comes with a heat-activated freeze plug. If anything happens to a fresh build before the tabs on that plug pop (at operating temperature), you can go claim a new motor. Like.. if they forget to bolt the conrod to the crank. Or.. the camshaft twists because it was crimped and unlubed. Those are problems you'd catch in 2 seconds, and before hte plug pops. With an sr.. if it starts, your warranty expires from most places. Doesn't matter if that SR started with 120-140-100-70 compressions.
But yea.. I don't see an issue with warranting a race motor. If the parts support the power level.. there will not be an issue from part/labor failure.

After all the arguing, the ka building is for torque happy proud home mechanics (ME) and the sr is for quick and easy swap and go boost. There is no sense in biachin about each motor; I like both and I firmly believe the sr is peace of mind F.I. swap. To the guy who started this thread if you start building your ka you will see how much paitence you need OR you could just get the pre packaged SR swap NUFF said.

When is the next TRack meet? If I can get an ecu tune in time.. I'll play.
It'd be nice for some KA guy to bring a loaner set of slicks
