As per previous post that I asked about, Matt confirmed its the rear end code for the S13/Nissan. (at the time I didnt know they even had a "rear end" code) As we all know they came with several LSD's.

Here. Look at the 2 Diffs offered. R200 and 240sx. Normally I wouldn't care too much, but there is a $100 difference between the 2.

And I knew the 240 came with a R200, as did ALOT of other nissans, but why does precision consider the 240sx as having a difference? Is there something I'm missing?

theres your difference. the 27 and 29 indicate the number of splines. i can prolly count the splines on a JDM output shaft (factory vlsd output shaft) and determine which is needed.

 

I just counted and a VLSD output shaft I had laying around is 29 spline. The open shafts that I have are already in my new Nismo unit and I don't feel like pulling them out just to count. Maybe somebody can count them for you but it seems like the VLSD shaft are bigger (i.e. more teethies).
