Default S14 Power Steering problem

1995 240SX w/ Redtop SR.
Today my car started leaking power steering fluid extremely bad. I found the leak; the alternator has been hitting the hard line and finally broke it. I am guessing the metal line that goes from the driver’s side to the passenger side and back is probably for cooling. For a temporary fix could this metal line be deleted? Could I replace this line with a small liquid cooler for a permanent fix and better power steering cooling?

I had the same damn problem with my power steering. How long have you had your motor? Let me guess, XAT did the swap. You can by-pass that pipe easily!

I have had the motor for a couple years now. I am running the motor mount that came with the clip and I drive my car extremely hard, so I can see how this could have happened. I did deleted the line for a temp fix and I will order a cooler on Monday, it seems like a smart upgrade. Does anyone have a recommendation on what size cooler I should install? Do I have to worry about the fluid not being warm enough? I plan on getting into autocross and road course events soon.
