Default 150k Mile Thoughts/Reflections

All this bandwagon talk has sparked a fire in me. To all those who are lost or brainwashed regarding the KA & bodykits. I just wanted to share my joy in passing 150,000k on my engine/car.

It should be evident that the KA-T "bandwagon" has never had such force until now. There will always be those who hate the KA but I'm proud to have proved many wrong and enlighten some locals on the potential. Granted, I'm not sure I would've made it this far if I did drift events. It sure holds up on true motorsport (auto-x/road course) events though

Speaking of which, to celebrate my 150k anniversary, I competed at the Porshe Club auto-x this weekend. I was expecting to put my clutch out of its misery but it survived. (Much respect to ACT STG1).

Tampa Racing versus Porshe Club:

The $130k+ GT3 beat me by a second, I think Mars beat him though? An old 944 beat us all by 8 secs... Really, the driver beat us not the car.

Those who are venturing onto the body kit "bandwagon" - beware. My street ride height noticeably increased my body roll versus my old zenki auto-x days. Of course, the car should be dropped and the suspension tweaked for such events but lowering the car is now a mission in itself...

Conclusion: Well-tuned/setup KA-Ts are awesome, body kits suck for auto-x.

how high is your bumper off of the ground? my drift car is about 1.5 inches off the ground and it never rubs at all when sliding around or gripping, heck even drivingo n the street it hardly rubs.

go lower, turn dampening and spring rates up!! Do you have swaybars, jesse?

Cusco sways. It is simply not correct to compensate dampening for gross ride height. Like I said, if I was serious about the event (no slipping clutch), I would've dropped it and dialed in the camber. Rub would not be an issue.

PS - Deflection and overall weakness of OE TC rods puts them on my priority list - after the engine build is done. Body roll is my biggest complaint right now though.

if you increase dampening and spring rate the car physically wont' be able to roll as much.

lowering the car makes it actuallye asier to body roll due to roll center

Stiffer springs/dampers, Tein TC rods and anything you can do to stiffen the overall chassis will help, but you probably already knew that stuff.

Correct.

Center of gravity is lower when the car is lower. That'd make it harder to roll. I'll have to brush up to be sure.

when you lower the car you lower the center of gravity but the roll center stays the same, you basically lengthen the lever arm between the two , and the car rolls easier.
