Default reversed motor mounts on a SR?

:bbb:

ok i have had some problems with stabbing the motor with the tranny,(needed about 1/2 an inch and it would fall in) resulting in my pulling the motor and redropping it with the tranny installed. (also putting too much pressure on the rear AC line and me bushing it, Grrr)

and now with the tranny cross member. it does not line up with the mount. off about 1/2 inch. along with the shifter sitting aft about the same.

other things i have noticed:

1 the front of the upper/lower oil pan seam has about an inch of space from it and the sway.

2 the front cross member has about 1/4 inch of space or less from the rear of the oil pan.

3 and the drive shaft has almost no play in the yoke.

the "1L" or "L1" mount is on the drive side, and i guess the R is on the pass side.

now this matched a KA i also have in the garage that im replacing a HG on. so i thought this was right, BUT, i have also heard the motor mounts need to re swapped.. =\

any help with be great.

also i will be down for the meet tomorrow night, so if there is some spic walking around with purple hair looking at the mounts of your cars, wearing all black, with glasses, driving a black desert runner frontier, that's me. im not trying to steel anything, just looking at what i need to fix/do.

thanks ..

Ric

Damn, I would've stayed longer Sat. night if this was bugging you. We shyed away from installing Jerry's Nismo mounts earlier that day but I did show him how installing them "opposite of the opposite way" helped my IC piping clear a little better.

I used the R on the right and the LN on the left side. Most KAs in the FreshAlloy world have theirs reversed (Left on right, right on left). For me, it shifted the engine to the right side about 1/4" but didn't notice anything on height.

actually, the motor mounts are not left/right side biased. and they are the same for SR and KA.. sound to me liek you just dont have it lined up right is all. is this a 5 speed to auto conversion? if so then you need a 5 spd tranny bracket, the auto is reversed from the manual.

the motor mounts are 100% biased. they are off by 1.5mm to the side depending on the left and the right side.

you CAN swap them to the other side and stretch them a little bit, but they ARE biased. 1.5mm is still 1.5mm.

yup. this is the same reason why it's easier to get to the back oil pan bolts of some sr's and harder on others.
