So I broke down, and did a slight upgrade on my turbo.
Stock t3 housings, with a t4 54 trim wheel inside of the stock compressor housing.
I ended up blowing a headgasket on 20psi, silly me.
So It's time to put the new gasket on, and retune her for 20psi.
I hope to make about 320 at the wheels on 20psi. We'll see. This is one of those bastard turbos, that no one ever does. It was a first for Charlie, and he asked me to tell him how it goes.
The turbo has substancially more power after 3500rpm then the stocker. 15psi feels like 20 used to, when it held. I wasn't very optomistic when I got it, but now Im happy with it. If it can put me over the 300 mark. I will consider it a good buy.
anyone else have expierence with this kind of turbo?

what prompted you to choose a 54 trim, as opposed to a 50, 57, or 60?
you running ARP headstuds? might be a good excuse to throw some in while you're motor is apart.
i sure hope to make 320whp someday, except having a slightly larger turbo (actual to4e comp housing), i hope to do it on less than 20 psi
good luck on the work, get some new #s.
oh ps - you had this on saturday night? i saw you ricer fly-by sonic on hillsborough
sounded good, hoped you'd stop by --- i havn't met you officially yet (other than standing by you at sonic on gandy once).

Yeah I was in a hurry to get to a friend's house. I did that to say hi to everyone there. I got like 3 phone calls from friends of mine who saw me.
Im always down to make new friends man, just come by and say what's up. I'll be out this weekend in full force, with a lot more fuel.

sooo... youre gonna go just as fast with less boost eh?
do they even make Metal HG's for the L28? does ARP offer studs for that motor?
sure would be nice to have a non-ticking head eh?
would it have costed more moneys to get it converted to a T4 cold side?
with this bad boy...

youll be able to hit 360 rwhp at 20psi. or, somewhere in the mid 300's. considering its still in a T3 housing. that may adversely effect peak air flow.
i can see that its going to be a pretty strong setup. it should be good for low 14s

It's not a supra.
I expect to make low 300's on 20psi. Around 320whp. However it's a pretty unique setup, Charlie admited he'd never done it before, and it was just lying around. Indeed, my next upgrade, after the bushings and such, will be a t4 compressor housing.

lol... so high 13's?
well thats cool, whats the price breakdown on said upgrade?
i want to get a 62-1 put in kellys turbo before we put it on the supra and just wondering what chuck charges.
i have a feeling its got a little more potential than 320 rwhp. 20 psi is almost 45lb/min. easily high 300's at the rear wheels. Mid 300's to be conservative. im sure your car can pull it off with the fmic thats falling off.

Well yeah with the t4 housing it's capable of high 300's, but the t3 housing will not pull it off. The flow just isnt there. It's a simple job to put the stock turbo back on and give it to charlie for a day when the t4 housing comes in.
So when I get the cash and such, it's only an hour job.
