I thought i remember taylor or somebody else reputable saying that the S14 Sr's with the vvt hooked up correctly will run like a bat out of hell.

The s14/15s have a broader power band due to the vtc. There are also almost always much cleaner than any s13 engine that comes in just because they are almost always so much newer even then most of the s13 blacktops.

It is a little trickier to get some of the parts like manifolds and cams, but otherwise its the same. Right now we have s14 cams in stock as well as several other s14 parts.

I personally think its worth the extra money if you can spare it, but thats just me

i'm tellin you, you won't need 350hp to drift or have a fast daily driver. i'd say go with the s14 SR. all the s14 swaps we did at XAT ended up being fast as shit. granted you can't modify the s14 sr as much now but its time will come. i stock s14 swap should put down more than 210 to the wheels stock, possibly up to 220. set the boost at 15 and your above 250, which is enough for a low 13 quarter and plenty to drift. and its basically bullet proof.

With my S14 motor in my 95 240sx I ran a 13.2 a 9psi At the track, I never ran it on 15 psi. I had light mods like FMIC and Exhaust and DP.

I NOW have a SPEC stage 2 , Greddy pulleys , Fliudyne fans ( no clutch fan) Greddy boost Profec. HKS super Seq. and hoping to run again soon!!!!

Im thinking consistant High 12's and about 25 MPG on highway...
I have had no problems with my S14 motor and I would not change.

Swap was done by me at my shop , and out of all the redtop swaps we have done not one of my customers with the same mods can keep up , Even in the lighter S13 chassis cars!

I put down 270whp/270wtq @ 15psi

hope that helps

Blacktop S14 motors are great motors. They may not have the greatest horsepower potential of the red top , but they are much newer, almost always much lower mileage, and they come witha couple of choice items from the factory.

overall it's a good engine, and i would take whichever motor, whether it s13 or s14 that had the best price per mileage.

if its a choice between a 40,000 km s14 or a 95,000 s13 , i'm going witht he s14 motor.

if i was going to tear it all down and build it for all out circuit?
i'm going with the s13 motor.

hope this helps.

so for leaving it stock for a good while and doing daily duty the s14 would be good?
