ballpark cost is like 3k in upgrades to be somewhat reliable. Plus car plus engine plus tires ect.

Ouch, i had no idea it would be that much more. So a ballpark would be 3k for a decent half cut and the 3k for upgrades, no? Then about 2k-3k for labor if i didn't want to do it myself?


Where does that 3k in upgrades do towards? Are you basically swapping everything off the block, but just not opening it up? i'd like to see some dyno graphs of 400hp sr's. Could someone point me in the right direction please?

Turbo, tuning, Fuel, Dyno time, Ignition, Clutches, HG, built head, custom DP, Custom Hotpipe. Large enough BOV it adds up quick trust me.

Thanks for the heads up on the graphs/charts. I'll go dig around a bit. Here's a question for the meantime. What would be the reason you would choose to go with a built up sr for 6-7k(not including labor) with a target of 400whp as opposed useing a vq30 with a turbo on it with cost that runs about 4-5k and will put down just as much power? I believe the complete packege would still vq the vq setup in the ring with less weight. Not trying to start a war hear just looking for feedback as to why you guys would choose one or the other.
