Default Smoking at take off

Alright, ever since I got the twice cam swap in the 240, it smokes a little bit when i go from a stop. Right after I get moving it stops smoking but from the time i start letting out the clutch and get moving a little bit, it smokes. Any ideas?

Usually that's a sign of bad valve seals. But again, it depends on smoke color, because that can determine the fluid being burnt.

It's like a white/blue smoke. More blue than white I guess. The weird thing is that is goes away though as soon as I am going, why is that?

white smoke usually means you are burning oil, no? are your oil levels good, did you put too much oil in the crank case? how long ago did you do the swap?

You're right China, just the twice cam...no turbo. I just checked my oil level and it seemed fine. A couple of weeks ago it went away and then I was on it kinda hard for a bit one day, racin' around town, and then it started again, it has gotten better since it started but its still doing it and hasn't gone away completely.

wow, people on this board sometimes.

if ur KA is over 100k or so...heck, if its a KA period, run castrol 20-50 in it.

if it smokes a little from leaving a stop, be proud that u have a healthy KA. twin cam motors do nothing but get better with age as LONG AS U DONT OVERHEAT THEM OR STARVE THEM OF OIL!!! if it smokes a little off the line...meh, who cares, its a KA. its happy smoke.

some of the fastest KA's ive seen smoke and are close to or over 200k miles. Taylor and bill can attest to this. They are vintage meng.
